Egorh already suspected there was something different about himself. He was only eight when he became friends with two forest creatures called dryads that were invisible to all but him. In time it is revealed he is really the son of Darkarh, powerful god of an ancient magical kingdom. Egorh is reborn in human form to save the inhabitants of both the mortal and immortal worlds from the evil sorceress, Zinnia.
Egorh is rushed to earth to begin life anew in a medieval era besieged with slave traders and battling kingdoms. With the magical imprint of a beak mark on his neck and a mysterious amulet he is forbidden to remove, the boy must turn within to discover his warrior soul as he grows up in a world fraught with danger.
The book’s title refers to the beautiful pink flamingos that serve as spiritual portals between the two worlds. Only the flamingos connect Egorh to the truth of his past, and the evidence of his evil brothers who would steal his throne.
The story unfolds from Egorh’s birth to his eighteenth year, when he’s secretly wed to his blue-eyed soul mate, Kayrin, who is unaware of Egorh’s birthright, and loves him for who he truly is.
Tutored by Dryads, pursued by the evil sorceress Zinnia and her minions, Egorh starts to unravel his past. Following his heart, and with a peculiar attraction to the flamingos of the great lake, he must overcome his fear of death, conquer his anger and accept his destiny in the battle to avenge his father’s death.
Against the backdrop of the richly described scenes, the vivid characters are intricately woven together, giving younger readers an opportunity to explore their imaginations and their own spiritual heritage in a way no video game can offer. Curse of the Flamingo provides enchantment and suspense at an action-packed pace to keep readers of all ages thoroughly engrossed.
